Storage Unit Thefts

January 27, 2010

Subject: Commercial Burglary

Location: Storage units throughout the LA/OC area

Date & Time: Unknown

Victim: Numerous unknown

Suspect: Possibly multiple. Investigation ongoing.

Narrative: You may be the victim of a crime and not currently know it. Detectives from the Garden Grove and Huntington Beach Police Departments have jointly been investigating a crime series where suspects rent a storage unit then fill it with property they steal from other units. The suspects replace the padlock on the victim storage unit so the storage rental company has no idea that the crime has occurred.

If you haven’t visited your storage unit in the last month, we recommend you do so. The Police Department has recovered truckloads of suspected stolen property, much of which has already been returned to identified victims. The remaining property includes a large comic book collection, sports memorabilia, china, cooking supplies, antique items including a radio, telescopes, and medical equipment.

If your property has been stolen from a storage unit in the LA/OC area within the last year, contact Detective Danielson of the GGPD at 714-741-5815.
